Client: A Large Multi-Location Orthopedic Group
Location: DFW Area
Specialty: Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
Issue: A large orthopedic group in the DFW area faced a storage and organizational dilemma in the medical records department. Their back office was overflowing with boxes of medical records while the staff was inundated with medical record pulls since the group kept all of records on site. The situation led to an inefficient back office which, in turn, yielded sub-optimal results for the practice as the staff was busiy performing tasks that were not revenue producing nor health care related.
AMRAS Action: AMRAS Corp. was asked to help find a solution for the practice. AMRAS first diagnosed the primary problems and collaborated with the orthopedic group’s management team to develop a solution. Ultimately AMRAS took the group’s older films and medical records offsite, re-organized them, and began acting as the group’s medical records department for records over 3 years old. By doing this, the orthopedic group’s offices were free of the piling boxes of medical records that had taken up so much space beforehand. Additionally, AMRAS Corp. offered their medical record retrieval service to this group freeing up their staff s time, allowing them to focus more important things.
Conclusion: Through AMRAS Corp. the orthopedic group was able to take a huge burden off of their staff, allowing them to focus on patient care.
